Description
Purpose: Under general supervision, to perform journey-level
work in the design, installation, construction modification, repair and
maintenance of electrical apparatuses, equipment and systems; acts as lead
worker to other classified staff in the area; and perform related work as
required.

Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical or
electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand
tools and power tools.
Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components,
using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and
correct the problem.
Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to
identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure
compliance with codes.
Advises management on whether continued operation of
equipment could be hazardous.
Maintains current electrician's license or identification
card to meet governmental regulations.
Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment
and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
Directs and trains workers to install, maintain, or repair
electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
Prepares sketches or follows blueprints to determine the
location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and
safety codes.
Performs business management duties such as maintaining
records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment.
Provides preliminary sketches and cost estimates for
materials and services.
Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and
service

Thorough knowledge of safety precautions to be observed in

Ability to operate and use required tools and equipment
skillfully and safely; assemble, install, maintain, and repair electrical
apparatuses;
Ability to make rough sketches; estimate cost, time and
materials of electrical work;
Ability to analyze and respond safely and appropriately to
emergency situations;

Educational qualification: Diploma in Electrical
